This is the News section of the website, it is for… news. It includes an RSS feed that you can subscribe to so you don’t have to manually check. Correction, I thought it did, dunno what to do now.

Great Teacher Onizuka

I’ve finally gotten around to making an update. I’ve finished writing the Great Teacher Onizuka article, even though I didn’t plan to write it when I wrote up my initial plans. To be clear, the article is finished according to criteria I set for myself… it doesn’t mean it’ll never change from now on.
Although it wasn’t planned, I’m happy I actually managed to accomplish something. I’ll get to work on the next thing, which I hope to get released… soon.
I consider this a great development and I hope I can maintain this creation pace.

Getting back on track to get back on track.

It has been a while again… but I believe I am finally getting back on track.
Not much change, as I’ve been doing stuff mostly in the playground, shielded from the eyes of outsiders.
The only significant change was the addition of Issues with Chans. I may try to get back to some other kind of work, but who knows.

I don't know how to name these

I was actually planning to do an update later this week. I set a personal deadline to get to all the to rewrite tagged articles by the end of the week and then explain my progress. However, I ended up finishing all of it today.

Changes

Alongside listing the changes, I’ll explain my reasoning in some cases.

Deleted Articles

  • All the Tropes and TVTropes
    • This was badly written and I don’t care enough about either to bother rewriting it.
  • Cairo Desktop
    • Something I’ll be mentioning a lot is my general distancing from software. As part of this, I got rid of the Cairo article (which wasn’t really much to begin with). I’ve just found I’m not as interested in software as I thought I was.
  • Cube World Discord Server History
    • This one I think is a bit badly written for one, but it also exists on the Bibanon. Why bother maintaining my version?
  • Extreme Categorisation
    • It served no particular purpose.
  • Fandom
    • Similar to my distancing from software, I find the rest of the non-Chanverse internet to not be that interesting anymore.
  • Fediverse
    • Part of my distancing from software. I also happen to not care about the Fediverse at all and simply pointing out how it’ll be a failure isn’t that appealing.
  • Immersive Explorer
    • Distancing from software.
  • Kingdom of One City
    • This one I just didn’t like. It can just be summarised as “a result of the HRE”.
  • LiteStep
    • Distancing from software. I also don’t use LiteStep and I only like non|step, which I take design inspirations from.
  • RetroShare
    • While it was part of my original rewrite wave, I didn’t like even the rewrite version. Considering I’m going away from software, I felt it was a good time.
  • RSS
    • Just bad.
  • Shoko
    • Software distancing and I just personally didn’t like the article. I use Shoko daily anyway, but I don’t really mind what it is currently.
  • Shows
    • This index was removed because there are currently no articles for any shows.
  • Splicing
    • Bad article from the early days.
  • Standardised Language
    • I don’t really believe in the concept anymore so I scrapped the article.
  • Tomorrowland Analysis
    • It was a dumb analysis that I came up with randomly while on a walk. Nothing too much to miss here.
  • UNIX Philosophy
    • Distancing from software and I also don’t really like the philosophy?
  • Web Browsers
    • Distancing from software. I also happen to only have 3(?) browsers installed. Of those, I use only 1 of them daily, 1 I use if I need to check compatibility and the last one as a bit of a joke.

Mergers and Moves

I didn’t delete all articles, in some cases I just moved them somewhere else (like the playground).

  • Aero
    • Only one I merged into another article. It currently exists in Windows Ricing
  • Anime Artistic Styles
    • I moved this to the playground because I like the idea.
  • Anon State
    • The whole idea needs to be re-written slightly. I also realised a bit later that it actually describes modern democracies a little, which spooked me.
  • Community Migration
    • I like the idea, but hate the article.
  • Czech Fantasy
    • This article was never finished. Hopefully I can finish it one day.
  • Despair
    • My philosophical views have changed so drastically since I wrote this that it needs to be re-visited.
  • FoxTalk
    • I moved this to my private wiki to be worked on with my other story ideas.
  • Guide to Danganronpa
    • I didn’t like the article.
  • Media Rating
    • I find it useful myself, although I don’t think others will.
  • Megacorporations
    • I’m thinking of merging it into the governments article (once it’s finished).
  • Osu
    • There wasn’t much to it. So despite having a banner it’s out.

Rewritten

Besides Acronyms and Nakige the rest are just skeletons to be expanded upon.

Independent Reviews

I removed quite a few of these (because I didn’t like them) and they may or may not return at some point. I’m not gonna bother listing them.

Plans

I’m thinking of completely redoing the indexes for media. I think they’re fine, but could be better; considering I link to them near-constantly. I’m not sure how yet so I’ll leave that for later.
The start for the LoreBook will also change to reflect the distancing from software. The philosophy section (which I previously removed and merged into the misc. section) will be reinstated as the “Satori” section. I picked “Satori” because wiktionary claims it’s a Japanese approximation(?) of “Love of Wisdom” which is the meaning I originally intended from “Philosophy.” Alongside that, the “Internet” section is getting removed entirely.
Despite my distancing from Software, I will probably create a “Recommended Software” article, similar to the InstallGentoo ones but me-flavoured.
The Chanverse stuff was dumped into the “Misc” section. Since the rest would have looked very imbalanced without it.
The number of articles looks to have dropped from 81 to 52. So… at least something?

Redo

This update is coming a little sooner than expected and that’s because I made a few small decisions.
First off, I’m gonna be removing a lot of links from the wiki. The main reason why is that it puts uneccessary pressure on me (and I won’t actually make articles for most of those any time soon).
And as a part of that, I will stop sharing my plans (for this wiki) with my readers, outside of these smaller updates. So new articles won’t be created and then gradually updated; instead, I’ll be creating a private one and once it’s at a decent enough level I’ll publish it. The exceptions being those that are already published.
Besides that, I’ve recreated my priority list… but I got distracted with my Hydrus database so I forgot to do any work… oops.

That’s basically it?

Oh right, I decided to delete the web browsers article. Why? Because it was bad and I’m not that interested in the topic anymore. (It was also very old, still having templates I stopped using a while ago).
I might return to browsers in the future, but it’s no guarantee. I may also end up deleting my other software articles. Dunno yet.

Big whoops

Guess who forgot about the wiki again?
Was I busy? No. I was just lazy.

Changes

I rewrote the ΛLDNOΛH.ZERO, Frozen and Prší articles. They are far better than before, but still a little lacking.
I added a couple of smaller articles such as:

Most of these are “small” and simple articles, similar to Review Collection. Hangul Supremacy is the only real exception and I don’t know when I’ll actually start working on it properly.
Will I start working more regularly on the wiki now? Perhaps. I hope so.
