Alimonium Island

A small and isolated island nation surrounded by vast amounts of ocean. For most of history, the island was ruled by the Alimonium Kingdom but the Kingdom has been overthrown recently. The island is currently ruled by an unstable, unpopular and corrupt republic. What’s left of the Royal family is in hiding. A well equipped, well trained Foreign Legion has entered the island from the East.
Many factions and individuals are taking advantage of the chaos for their own gain.

Note

I originally wrote (most) of this for a game of AI Dungeon I planned to play.
I ended up going far too in-depth. So much that I got pissed off the second I started playing, because the AI ignored most of it.
So here it is, the Work-in-Progress version of a story idea I came up with just now.
How much “magic” remains in the final version I can’t say for sure. There are also a lot of keywords sprinkled all over the place in a desperate attempt to make the AI take note.

"Races"

This I will almost certainly rewrite to be better in the future. This isn’t really a group of races. Obviously.

People of Alimonium

The people of Alimonium are very diverse in their religious views and political affiliations. The people have joined various factions for various reasons. Some wish to pursue their own selfish interests, some wish to grant themselves fame and fortune… most, however, simply wish for peace to return to the island.

Republicans

Those who follow the instructions of the Republic absolutely. They are unquestionably loyal to the Fledgling Republic and are known to employ ruthless and underhanded tactics in order to please the Republic.

Royals

The Royals are the members of the Alimonium Royal Family. Due to the revolution, most members were killed and the few left have gone into hiding. Their goal is to overthrow the Fledgling Republic and restore the Kingdom. As the direct descendants of the legendary founder of the Alimonium Kingdom, they are the rightful rulers of the island.

Foreignors

The Foreigners are mainly from the Eastern lands. The reason for their migration to the island of Alimonium is currently unknown. They are a warlike people with a strong military. At the moment, they are a major threat to the Republic, Royal family and the people of Alimonium.

Classes

This section will almost certainly be removed or significantly rewritten in the future.
I created far too many because I hoped for some nice variety. The AI completely ignored most of it though.

Lord

A Lord used to be one of the most supreme positions within the Alimonium Kingdom but following the revolution and installation of the Fledgling Republic, they have been relegated to the sidelines. The few Lords are either viewing for power within the Republic or trying to restore their positions by reinstalling the Kingdom. Some ambitious Lords have allied themselves with the Foreign Legion and a few Lords have even declared independence.

Ranger

Rangers are the bounty-hunters of Alimonium. Usually former soldiers and officers who were discharged for various reasons, they are some of the most skilled individuals on the island. Possessing vast amounts of knowledge and great skill with any weapon, they can be a valuable ally or a dangerous enemy.

Nun

Nuns have, in recent times, secluded themselves within their temples. Due to their virgin status, they are a frequent target of slavers, who intend to sell them to rich benefactors as sex slaves. Nuns dedicate their lives to being pure and kind followers of the Great Spirit. They frequently clash with Shrine Maidens, who they view as less refined and heretical.

Shrine Maiden

Shrine Maides are teenage girls who serve as caretakers of the various folk shrines located all over the island. With the spread of the Church of the Great Spirit, more and more shrines have been destroyed. As a result, Shrine Maidens have been taught in the way of archery and various divine protection spells. Like Nuns, they are virgins. They frequently clash with Nuns, who they view as stuck-up and boring.

Hermit

Hermits are reclusive wise men who dedicate their lives to the study of magic. Little is known about the Hermit mages as they prefer to keep themselves to themselves. Many hermit mages have been seen in the past few years, and all of them have been highly eccentric and abnormal. Hermits will occasionally reveal themselves to the public to spread their wisdom or share their disapproval of a faction.

Thief

In recent years, thievery has been becoming a preferred profession for the poor folk of the island. Due to this, a Thieves guild was founded by a charismatic Thief. Thieves do not care who they steal from, all they care about is enriching themselves and the guild.

Lady

Ladies were the wives of Lords. During the rule of the Kingdom, they were highly respected members of upper-class society and a great source of information. With the rise of the Fledgling Republic, many ladies were captured by the Republic. The Politicians of the Republic turned many into their personal playthings. The Ladies that evaded capture are in hiding and in constant fear of being discovered.

Royal Guard

The Royal Guard was one of the most highly disciplined and organized military units of the Alimonium Kingdom. They were the personal guard of the Royal Family. With the fall of the Kingdom and rise of the Republic, many royal guardsman fight to restore the Kingdom.

Foreign Officer

These are the highest ranking and most experienced soldiers in the legion. Officers are educated and clever. Their duty is to lead the Legionnaires to victory in all fights. They are well respected by both allies and enemies for their brilliance. In the absence of a government, they also manage the lands occupied by the Foreign Legion.

Healer

Healers are an invaluable part of any army. They are the first ones to enter the battlefield and the last ones to leave it. Their job is to keep the soldiers alive, while also focusing on healing their wounds. Healers are well-rounded and versatile, capable of using both magic and weapons.

Farmer

Farming is a job that needs well-equipped, well-trained farmers. After all, what good is arable land if you can’t cultivate it? The Alimonium farmers are the backbone of the nation, growing food for the nation and its army.
(This was generated completely by the AI)

Priestess

The Priestesses are the embodiment of peace and tranquility. They are some of the most senior members of the Church of the Great Spirit, second only to the Priests. Unlike the Priests, they are more split in their support of the Republic, choosing instead to remain silent. Priestesses are famous for their calmness and virginity. A Priestess usually travels with several Nuns.

Priest

Priests are the most devoted followers of the Great Spirit. Their spiritual powers are unrivaled, their miracles are legendary. They are considered the absolute messengers of the Great Spirit. As a result, they are the most important and powerful members of the Church. They almost unanimously support the Fledgling Republic. They look down on Priestesses for their peaceful and feminine outlook.

Student

Students are the ones being educated in the various universities of the capital city. Students all have wildly diverging and radical ideas. Many find themselves being imprisoned for those views. Students are considered naïve, inexperienced and crazy. They are, however, a great source of new military innovations.

Bandit

Bandits are people who have no qualms about taking what they want and who are not afraid to use violence to get what they want. They are a force to be reckoned with. A well equipped, well trained Bandit is a force to be reckoned with.
(This was written entirely by the AI).

Unemployed

Unemployed people are those who have lost their jobs and are unable to find another. The economic downturn has hit the island hard and many businesses have closed leaving many people out of work. The island is filled with these wanderers. Many turn to less-reputable jobs to survive.

Politician

Politicians are the leaders of the Fledgling Republic. They are given a vast amount of power and influence within the government. Many Politicians are corrupt and decadent, choosing to spend their time forcing themselves upon the Ladies of the former Kingdom. A few Politicians are, however, doing everything they can to fix the issues of the Republic.

Maid

Maids are the servant of all. They are usually the ones tasked with taking care of the more delicate tasks around the house, like making sure the master of the house is all right in bed, or making sure the master of the house is properly attired for a given situation.
(This was generated completely by the AI)

Legionnaire

Legionnaires are the main soldiers of the Foreign Legion. Trained from a young age, they posses a vast amount of fighting skill and knowledge. They are well known for their brutal method of solving problems.

Slaver

Slavers have the least prestigious job in Alimonium. They kidnap people (usually young women) and sell them into the slave market. Their main objective is profit and they are willing to do anything for it. They scoff at the religious practices of the people, choosing to be atheist. They are near-universally hated by most and loved by their customers. With the establishment of the Fledgling Republic, slavery has been made legal. Corrupt Politicians especially like slavers.

Merchant

Merchants are those who buy and sell goods. Merchants own many of the small businesses located all over the island. With the recent state of chaos, merchants have banded together to protect themselves and their business interests.

Soldier

Soldiers make up the bulk of most armies. They are trained to fight with all kinds of weapons. Soldiers tend to be placed into groups, who are usually lead by an officer.

Their main supporters include former soldiers, Royal Guard and various sympathetic towns and villages. Their main headquarters is located at the Grand Shrine of Misty Lake. The community is led by a High Priestess who is respected by all.

Merchant Alliance

The Merchant Alliance is a group of merchants that have banded together to take advantage of the instability on the island. They posses a vast amount of money, being the richest faction on the island. Due to their profit-driven nature, they are unusually brutal towards their enemies. They are willing to cooperate with anyone… for a price.

Army of the Hermit

One day, a wise Hermit descended from a mountain into a city. Over the years, the number of his followers grew. With the fall of the Kingdom, they decided it was time to strike. The Army of the Hermit is a small, but powerful, faction with a vast amount of esoteric knowledge. They prefer to defend their own borders and collect books. They are led by an eccentric Hermit, who continually berates the Fledgling Republic and their Politicians for their immoral ways.

Princess Splinter

After a major disagreement with her cousin, the Princess left the Royal Family and founded her own faction. Enemies of everyone, she managed to take control of a small town in the south. Her faction is primarily composed of former prostitutes, Shrine Maiden who disagreed with the Community of the Shrines and Nuns who became disillusioned with the Church. Their lack of fighting strength makes them an easy target.

The Foreign Legion

The Foreign Legion is a large military force that has recently landed on the Eastern end of the Alimonium island. The Legion is a terrifying, well trained force that is quickly gaining control of the region. The Legion’s exact goals are unknown. The Legion is a well disciplined force that is recognized for its excellent training.

Church of the Great Spirit

The Church of the Great Spirit is a religious institution with a large following on the island. The Church of the Great Spirit is the state religion of the Fledgling Republic. The Church, taking advantage of the chaos, has started a purge of all heretics on the island… intending to be the only religion left standing. Many within the Church disagree with this and cracks are starting to show. Their headquarters are located in the capital.

Thieves Guild

The Thieves Guild is a large organization with the purpose of enriching itself and its members. The Guild is infamous for their ingenious methods of theft. The Guild is led by a well-respected old veteran thief who is as cunning as he is clever.

The Fledgling Republic

The Fledgling Republic is the young new government of the island of Alimonium that is experiencing growing pains. The Republic is unstable and in the middle of a civil war with various other factions. The government is being taken advantage of by morally corrupt Politicians who aim to only enrich themselves.

The Royal Family

The Royal Family is in hiding on the island after the Republicans overthrew the Kingdom. The Royal Family is led by young Prince, who is not only ambitious, but also ruthless and willing to resort to any means to achieve his goals. He has a small but powerful army, composed of loyalists, at his disposal. Their eventual goal is the overthrow of the Republic and reestablishment of the Alimonium Kingdom.

Locations

You can tell I started getting bored around this part. Far more of this was written by the AI than in previous sections, where it’s either completely me or a heavily distorted version of what the AI wrote.

Eastern Landing

Eastern Landing is a beachhead for the Foreign Legion coming from the east. It serves as their main headquarters. It is mainly composed of military camps, storage houses and brothels.

Duesdale

Duesdale is a small town in the south of Alimonium. It currently houses the Princess and her splinter group.

The Capital

The Capital city of Alimonium is the center of the island nation. It is home to the government and many of the key figures in the country. It is a hub for information and for individuals seeking power. It is currently under the administration of the Fledgling Republic.

Grand Shrine of Misty Lake

The Grand Shrine of Misty Lake is the burial site of the Alimonium royal family. The shrine is a large, mysterious structure located in a deep and forested valley. It is said that the waters from the lake that the shrine holds a blessing from, is able to heal the sick. Rumors also abound that the dead from the Great War of Alimonium are buried in the shrine. The Community of the Shrines has their main base in the Shrine.

Trivia

  • You can tell this was a blend of whatever came to my mind at the time.
  • I do legitimately want to make this into a decent setting, but it’ll take me a while.
  • It’s not marked as construction because this isn’t the wiki and it’s in the WIP section.
